A Colour Story: A Road Trip Through Canada’s Wonders

Pale teals, soft blues, and nature-inspired neutrals. This is the scenery on our early spring road trip across Canada - hues that felt like a fierce call for climate consciousness in our fractured world.

From the wild peaks of the Rockies to the powerful Niagara Falls and the serene shores of the Great Lakes, every stop became a living story. These landscapes didn’t just inspire colour palettes; they revealed textures, forms, and finishes that speak of resilience through imperfection.

The Rocky Mountains: Banff & Jasper

Our first stop was on the Westcoast: Banff’s Lake Louise, where turquoise waters shimmered like tempered glass with a reflective, high-gloss finish, framed by granite-taupe peaks and crisp ivory snow.

Hiking in Jasper, breathing in the air carried a cedar scent that filled us with pure wellness only wild places can offer. I ran my fingers over the textured cedar bark, understanding through its irregular surface nature’s ability to thrive through flaws. Nearby, a fragrant notes of pine and wildflowers, wrapping us in a deep sense of closeness to the earth.

The Rockies’ timeless beauty stirred something urgent in me. A quiet reminder that these wonders wont last forever and must be protected for generations to come.

Niagara Falls

At Horseshoe Falls the thunderous cascade stole our breath. Mist rose in fading clouds, framed by neutrals and greenery. The translucency of the water’s mist hung in the air powerfully. A reminder of our need for awareness of fragility. A nearby metal railing caught the light, its glow calm our minds amid the roar. Around signs of pollution grounded the moment: even this force of nature is vulnerable.

The Great Lakes

We traced the shores of three of the five Great Lakes - Michigan, Superior, and Huron. Their tumbled beaches glowed softly with an iridescent, weathered finish, whispering the imperfect beauty of endurance.

At Lake Superior, framed in a matte, worn patinas cliffs stood resilient against the waves. The honed-like texture felt warm and organic under our hands; soft pitting caught the light and reflected a serene mosaic of lake teal, pebble taupe, and plant sage.

From thunderous waterfalls to serene lakeshores, these wild places offered wellness, awe-inspiring beauty, and a living manifesto for change. The pale teals, soft blues, and nature-inspired neutrals weren’t just colours. They were woven organically, through materials and finishes that speak of strength and adaptability. As the cedar trees lining Lake Huron’s shores linger in my memory, or a matte patina of time paired with fragrant wild notes.

This road trip turned into a clear call: live lightly, thoughtfully. Ensure these wonders endure for generations to come.
