CMG’s CMF-Xchange Workshop 2026
I recently had the wonderful opportunity to participate in Color Marketing Group’s inaugural CMF-Xchange Workshop, which wrapped up in Chicago with leading CMF designers from across the industry. I was thrilled by the deep CMF direction discussions, fresh insights from every expert at the table, and how it all connects to the upcoming forecast. This experience truly highlighted one key point: CMG is far more than a professional association. It’s a warm, volunteer-driven community that gives designers passionate about colors, materials, and finishes a true sense of belonging and limitless growth.
To illustrate, let me share three aspects that made this workshop unforgettable.
First, my personal journey with CMG has been a life-changing from day one. When I joined the community, I instantly felt at home. Finally, I could relate everything I do to a bigger picture and expand my knowledge about color firsthand from industry professionals. Years have gone by, and I’m still here. In 2025 I had the privilege of joining the Board of Directors and, over the past years, serving on the ColorAlert Committee, CMF Steering Committee, Color Forecasting Committee, and now the Marketing Communication Committee, where I currently lead social media. Each role revolves around color yet opens endless pathways to learn about this fascinating CMF world.
Second, the workshop itself exceeded every expectation in its warmth and flawless organization. In a field as niche as CMF, connecting with like-minded people in person can sometimes feel like searching in the sea. Yet the experience went above and beyond. The event was graciously hosted by Mohawk Group in their beautiful Chicago Showroom in the Fulton Market, who also sponsored the coffee breaks and Thursday evening happy hour. A big thank you to them for making everyone feel so welcome. I also want to express my gratitude to our facilitators, Mercedes Landázuri and Peggy Van Allen, CMG, Color Anthropologist™ and Designer Van Allen, who led each session with professional passion. As one of the group champions alongside Brynn Wildenauer and Kevin G Harvey, I was proud to support every team’s work.
Third, the real magic lies in the lasting impact and sense of shared ownership it creates. Overall, I left buzzing with excitement from yet another powerful workshop alongside my supportive community. The results from this session will be combined with CMF findings from all CMG ChromaZone workshops and will shape the 2028+ World Material & Finish Forecast, to be presented at CMG’s Summit Reveal on August 27-28, 2026. It’s truly an effort that gives every participant a real voice and a feeling of belonging.
Overall, this workshop once again proved that if you’re passionate about CMF design, CMG is the right community for you - just as it has been for me.
Check out some snapshots from the workshop and if you are searching for the color community, don’t even blink to connect.
